Cultural And Educational Program

Despite recent progress in Bangladesh’s formal education system, traditional teaching methods still rely heavily on memorization and exam-oriented instruction. We believe it is vital to nurture a more holistic approach to learning—one that encourages children to explore literature, art, history, logic, and contemporary issues from an early age.

To make a lasting impact on students’ lives, we partnered with Fulki to introduce the Integrated Educational-Cultural Program in five schools near our factory locations. This initiative empowers students to understand their rights and apply them in real-life situations, while also engaging local youth as facilitators. Through this shared journey, both students and facilitators are encouraged to grow in creativity, confidence, and civic responsibility.

SRHR Training

To enhance our workers’ understanding of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), we partnered with Change Associates to provide 10 hours of comprehensive training to Peer Educators. The sessions covered crucial topics including reproductive health, STIs and HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence and discrimination, as well as family planning, equipping participants with essential knowledge to promote awareness and wellbeing within the community.

UNDP-UNV INNOVATION HUB RECOGNITION

We are proud to partner with the UNDP-UNV Innovation Hub in engaging the Bangladeshi private sector. Recognized as one of the companies making significant impact toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we are honored to be featured on the UNDP-UNV Innovation Hub’s new Responsible Business webpage.

SCHOLARSHIP FOR FEMALE LEADERS

We recognize the importance of hiring women at all levels of our organization. Their diverse perspectives, creativity, and problem-solving skills bring unique value to the workplace and help drive innovation and growth. To support this, we recently launched a pilot scholarship program offering free vocational and soft skills training to six women in the packaging department, preparing them to advance into roles as assistant machine operators. Traditionally male-dominated, this skilled position offers both fair wages and meaningful leadership opportunities—reflecting the capabilities and potential of these women.

UNDP PRIVATE SECTOR FORUM ON SDGS & BUSINESS

We participated in a private sector forum organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the UN Volunteers Innovation Hub, alongside over 200 companies. The forum focused on exploring collaborative strategies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through meaningful engagement with the private sector. Our Head of Sustainability and Risk & Compliance Consultant shared insights on how businesses can both contribute to and benefit from aligning with the SDGs.

HEALTH & NUTRITION CENTRE

Access to quality and affordable healthcare remains a significant challenge for many people in Bangladesh. Through our valued partnership with CWCH, our workers now have access to a general practitioner and a nutritionist at the Lolati Health & Nutrition Centre for a nominal fee. Our goal is to ensure that every visitor receives essential nutrition guidance alongside their medical consultation. For over 13 years, CWCH has been committed to providing healthcare services to factory workers, making a meaningful difference in their lives.

HEALTH ASSESSMENT

The Centre for Woman and Child Health is conducting thorough health screenings for our workers, including checks for diabetes, anemia, reproductive health, and nutritional status. We believe healthcare should be affordable and accessible to all. With our clinic opening soon, we want to help our workers understand their health and provide the support they need.

CWCH also runs a hospital in Ashulia, an area with many factories, extending healthcare services to the wider community.

HEALTH & RIGHTS AWARENESS OUTREACH

Maya Apa, Bangladesh’s leading online health platform, has partnered with us to provide reliable answers to our workers’ Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) questions. Maya Apa’s mission is to empower women, their families, and communities by enabling informed decision-making. The Maya Apa team has visited our factories multiple times to promote their free online service and offer on-site medical consultations. Additionally, they have installed kiosks in our factories’ medical centres to ensure workers without smartphones can easily access their services.

NUTRITION TRAINING

Nutrition is a key ingredient to health and productivity. We believe everyone should have access to safe and nutritious food, starting with learning about what constitutes good nutrition. In partnership with Change Associates, we provided 10 hours of training to Peer Educators, who successfully shared their knowledge with their colleagues.

SUPPORTING THE STUDY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

We are proud to support the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh’s Annual Conference on Sustainable Development. Our Head of Sustainability, Marion Pellegrin, participated in a panel discussion focused on SDG 12: Sustainable Production and Consumption. As part of our contribution, we also provided biscuits for all attendees throughout the event.

WORKING CONDITIONS

We are committed to providing a safe, fair, and lawful work environment in full compliance with the Bangladesh Labour Act and international standards. Occupational health and safety is our top priority. Our facilities offer clean drinking water, medical care, health assessments, insurance, fire safety measures, and comprehensive training. We ensure fair wages, paid leave, legally compliant overtime, and profit sharing. We strictly prohibit child labor and do not employ anyone under the age of 18.

QUALITY CONTROL

We prioritize quality at every step—from raw materials to finished products—through regular testing and oversight via our SAP system. All staff are trained in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and we are ISO 22000 certified. Independent audits by SGS ensure we meet global standards. Our sustainability projects follow the same approach, shaped by third-party assessments to ensure they truly address our workers’ needs.

EDUCATION

In recent years, we have supported a range of educational initiatives across Bangladesh, including debate competitions, graduation ceremonies, and university events. We also sponsor the annual Energy Plus football tournament to promote healthy, active lifestyles among youth. Additionally, we provide monthly funding to four madrassas and one primary school to support the employment of Science, Mathematics, and English teachers.
