Mohammad Bhai

Founder Chairman

Mohammad Bhai, the founder chairman of Olympic Industries PLC, was a visionary entrepreneur whose leadership and foresight helped shape modern industry in Bangladesh. Born in Kanpur, India, he migrated to Dhaka following independence and began his business journey in Bangladesh in 1948. In 1959, he pioneered the nation’s steel industry by establishing the country’s first steel mill—an achievement that marked him as one of the foremost industrialists of his generation. Beyond his business acumen, Mr. Bhai played an active role in national and community leadership. He served as President of the United Chamber of Commerce and led the Aga Khan Supreme Council for Bangladesh for over two decades, contributing greatly to both industry and society. In 2018, we bid farewell to this remarkable leader and pioneering entrepreneur. His vision, integrity, and enduring contributions continue to inspire Olympic Industries and will remain a guiding force for generations to come.
1979
Incorporation as Bengal Carbide Limited

Olympic Industries PLC. was founded in June 1979 as Bengal Carbide Limited, a battery manufacturer. Since its inception the company has worked in various category of business including ball pen, biscuit, snacks, confectionery etc.

1982
Started Battery Production

In 1982, the company started to commercially manufacture and distribute UM-3 & UM-4 batteries in Bangladesh market. During that time, batteries were mostly used in remote, clocks, car toys. Olympic grabbed a big chunk of the small battery segment in a small amount of time.

1984
Listing on Dhaka Stock Exchange and established Bengal Food Ltd.

In 1984, Olympic Industries PLC. got enlisted in the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited as a publicly trading company to earn capital investment from broader segment. It was named Bengal Food Limited to focus production in the food category with a different business name.

1987
Launching Tripti Brand

Bengal Foods Limited later introduced a soyabean oil brand named TRIPTI. The oil brand started to be commercially marketed in 1987.

1996
Bengal Food Ltd Name Changed to Olympic Industries Ltd.

Bengal Foods Limited later changed its name to Olympic Industries Limited in 1996 and stepped in the food business in its original name.

1996
Listing on Chittagong Stock Exchange and Commencement of Biscuit and Confectionery Production

In 1996, Olympic Industries PLC. enlisted its name in the CTG Stock exchange to publicly trade and raise capitals. It also started to manufacture biscuit and confectionery items in commercial level with the raised capital.

1998
Ball Pen Production

In 1998, the company entered the Ball Pen Industry under the brand name OLYMPIC BALL PEN with variety in assortments. Olympic Fine Pen, Soft Gel, Super Gel are well known pen brands under the Olympic umbrella brand.

2014
Received ISO 22000 Certification

Olympic Industries PLC. has recently earned the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 22000 certification on 2014 based on its compliance with international standards of food safety, production and packaging. The certificate was delivered at Olympic Industries PLC.’s office on April 10.

2017
Commencement of Bakery Line

Upon the approval of the board of directors, Olympic Industries PLC. commissioned an additional tunnel oven to increase the annual bakery capacity by 1,800 metric tons.

2018
Commencement of Noodles and Carton Lines

In May 2018, Olympic successfully commissioned the instant noodles manufacturing line. This line was imported from Japan and has an annual production capacity of 9,000 metric tons. The brand name for the noodles brand is Foodie with single pack, 4 pack, 8 pack family SKUs. OIL has also procured carton manufacturing facility in May 2018, with an estimated annual production capacity of 66.00 million cartons.

2022
Introduction of 11th Biscuit line

In February 2022, Olympic commissioned a new cracker and hard dough biscuit line with a capacity of 12,442 metric tonnes per year.

2025
Addition of Cookies Production Line

Olympic Industries PLC. achieved a significant milestone with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art multi-colour cookie production line, with an annual production capacity by 9,048 tonnes.
